Are you interested in learning to play the bagpipe? Learning to play pipes is quite difficult without an instructor. Self-taught pipers frequently struggle
and fail. While many piping retailers sell "kits" for beginners, there is no comparison to an instructor who can prevent you from "spinning your wheels"
and later having to unlearn improper technique. I can provide beginning instruction, both in-person and via VOIP, such as on Skype, for a
reasonable fee. All instruction includes sheet music. You'll need a quality practice chanter to get started with your lessons, and I can guide you to the proper equipment retailers. For Skype,
you'll also need a suitable computer with a good webcam and microphone (Skype to Skype on computer is free). Regardless of your
age, musical experience, ability to read music, or location, I'll be glad to get you started on the right track.
Beware local music shops, suppliers, and E-bay. Unless it's a piping specialty shop, your local music store knows NOTHING about
bagpipes. They will tell you they do, and they can order anything at a great price. The truth is that in nearly all cases you will waste
your money on unplayable junk. The same is true of E-bay. The large majority of bagpipes and supplies on E-bay are absolute junk,
which will drain your wallet and kill your piping aspirations. I am not a retailer and do not sell or profit from bagpipes or supplies.
Whether you take lessons from me or not I'll be glad to steer you in the right direction. Just drop me an e-mail. For further information
on some good suppliers and to see prices for quality equipment, visit my "Where to Buy" page.
If you're an advanced piper and looking for quality instruction outside your geographic area, many accomplished professional-level pipers also offer lessons via Skype:
